Biochemical and Chemical Analysis

Nordic BioAnalysis AB offers a broad range of biochemical and chemical analyses to support product development, batch release and raw material evaluation, including methods like protein quantification, pH measurement and elemental analysis.

Applications and industries served

Our biochemical and chemical methods are used in pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech and related sectors. They support activities such as identity testing, impurity profiling, stability assessment and confirmation of critical quality attributes across a wide variety of product types.

Chemical methods

Our chemical testing capabilities cover physicochemical characterization, impurity analysis and composition testing.

Physiochemical Characterization

  • Appearance (Solid and liquid formulation: degree of coloration and opalescence): Visual evaluation of both solid and liquid formulations to assess color intensity and opalescence level.
  • pH, Conductivity/Resistivity, Density, Osmolality: Measurement of key physicochemical parameters relevant to product performance, stability, and compliance.
  • Loss on drying: Determines the amount of volatile substances, primarily water, removed by controlled heating.
  • Residue on evaporation: Assesses the amount of non-volatile material remaining after evaporation of a liquid sample.
  • Viscosity (Capillary and Rotational): Measures a fluid’s resistance to flow using both capillary and rotational methods.

Composition and Uniformity

  • Content uniformity: Confirms consistent distribution of the active ingredient(s) in individual dosage units.
  • Residue moisture/water content: Accurate determination of low-level water content using coulometric Karl Fischer titration.

Packaging Integrity

  • Container Closure Integrity Testing: Evaluates the ability of a container system to maintain a sterile barrier against potential contaminants.

Instrumental and Spectral Analysis

  • FT-IR analysis: Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy used to identify functional groups and verify chemical structures.
  • TOC analysis: Total Organic Carbon measurement to assess trace levels of organic contamination.
  • UV/VIS spectrophotometer: Quantitative analysis of compounds based on their absorption of ultraviolet and visible light.
  • HPLC (UV-, RI-): High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with UV and Refractive Index detectors for precise compound separation and quantification.
  • GC analysis: Gas Chromatography for analyzing volatile and semi-volatile components.
  • LC-MS/MS analysis: Liquid Chromatography coupled with Tandem Mass Spectrometry for highly sensitive and specific chemical analysis.

Expert Support

  • Consultative Expertise: Access to expert guidance for method development, troubleshooting, and regulatory strategy tailored to your testing needs.
